This building was bulit around Meiji 42-43 (1909-1910).The brick used in this building is a product of the Tatewaki Brick Factory,Which was founded around Meiji 31 (1898).At that time, bricks were mainly used for construction by the Ministry of Railways, for example, in the Kamuikotan Tunnal, Karikachi Tunnel, and Sekihoku Tunnel. The factory also delivered large quantities of bricks for the foundation of the 7th Division Barracks,Which was bulit over for years from Meiji 33 (1900), and to a building near the Asahikawa horse race track.
After that, and lot of other work around Asahikawa,The clay around the factory was depleted, so the brick factory was unfortunately closed.Using bricks made at the factory, a brick warehouse was built near Miyashita Street, near Kamotsu Station. This warehouse was mainly storing government-owned rice until August 1989.
